Local Community Meetings (Formerly LCAP)

Anti Social Behaviour, Crime, Reduce Crime, Safer Neighbourhoods

Local Community Meetings (LCM) are multi agency problem solving groups, working alongside the local community to address crime, anti-social behaviour and quality of life issues.

There are a number of members including:

  • Colchester Borough Council*
  • Colchester Parish Councils
  • Essex County Council
  • Local community groups
  • Councillors
  • Community leaders
  • Neighbourhood Watch
  • Resident’s Associations

Each LCM serves to identify and achieve short, medium and sustainable long term solutions to local community needs.

Local Community Meetings (LCMs) continued as usual through 2017/2018, but had also been under review during this time. Following the review some changes have been introduced.

From May 2018 the LCMs continue but with a more streamlined structure;

  • Police will Chair the meetings. Police will continue to commit to attending all 12 meetings per year (one per month)
  • The 12 meetings will be spread around the Borough and held in different locations in order to engage more with the public.
  • CBC Community Safety will continue to offer support and where possible a Zone Manager or Warden will attend each meeting and represent CBC.
